Nisa Khan
About the Artist
Nisa Khan is a practicing artist from Derby, she has recently graduated from the University of Derby’s BA Fine Art programme, where she received the Cavendish Arts Society Award. Khan is currently studying an MA in Fine Art as UAL’s Chelsea College of Arts, where her work The Browns Head out of Town was shown at Tate Britain’s: Late at Tate (online). Khan’s recent work Nauchy Nauchy uff Thu Faaney was shortlisted and received an award for the Leeds Summer group show. This work is currently being shown as part of Bury Art Museums The Next Thing Award.
Khan’s art practice unpicks multiculturalism by paying close attention to hidden elements within British, Pakistani, and British-Pakistani popular culture. Khan achieve this by focussing on personal life experiences, which have activated her sense of “in-betweenness”; of being caught between British and Pakistani cultural extremes.

Breath V
Breath V is a visual record of the artists’ breathe both with and without a face mask. Breath V documents how breathing has changed for us all, it acknowledges the associated dangers and our unified realisation to not take this innate cyclical function for granted.
